This doesn't seem to be a very active community, but I found it while jumping through my Interests listed.

Mindy Smith was recommended to me by a co-worker after she found out how much I listened to and liked Alison Krauss + Union Station; we talked of our favourite songs and I mentioned "If I Didn't Know Any Better" from their album, Lonely Runs Both Ways. My co-worker noted that this song was co-written by Mindy Smith, and that I should check out Mindy Smith's own album, One Moment More. So I did.

My first listen to this album was all in the getting-acquainted part of listening to new music. At first listen, every song sounded alike aside from the standouts that were "Come To Jesus," "One Moment More," and "Jolene." Further listens and further feedback from another co-worker and her thoughts on the album realised the depth of songwriting, and I listened to the album as if looking for something. And I found something.

Now, I'm not necessarily one to become all melodramatic about this or that, but what with the goings-on and the ups-and-downs in my life I found comfort in Mindy Smith's album. The biggest going-on in my life is the relationship that I have held on to for two-and-a-half years now. It seems that everybody and their grandmother knows about me and the relationship I'm in. (Gossip.)

"If I Didn't Know Any Better," co-written by Mindy Smith, was a hugely important song in my listening repertoire. There've been times when I'd questioned my place in this relationship I'm in, and no matter how many times we'd separated we'd always managed to find ourselves back together again. "Hurricane" has probably been a poignant song for me from Mindy Smith's album. Our relationship's been so long-standing, challenged, and difficult to define, and sometimes I feel that the idea of a hurricane to "ravage through this place [is] the only way to salvage any sense I have left to move on." I don't know anymore what this relationship is built upon, and I've felt so deeply planted in this relationship and the idea of us being together that it's difficult to imagine us not together even if for better reasons.

Mindy Smith has such a gift in lyrical ability, composition, and performance. I'd like to partake in a live performance of hers in the future. It is rare to find an entire album of great material albeit by an emerging artist. Mindy Smith is a great artist, and One Moment More is, indeed, a great album.

New!

Hello, I just joined, but wanted to say hello. I've been listening to Mindy's CD since last summer when I discovered her at a concert I went too. Her voice is amazing and so are her songs! My favorite songs are probably One Moment More and Falling. So, hello, and I hope to talk to you all soon!

I was watching CMT Insider this weekend and it featured Mindy. She talked about how she looked up to her mother, and how after her mother's death (breast cancer) she quit on her music, but picked it back up realizing she had so much to write about. It was nice to see her. I never see her video's any more.

Hello everyone. I just joined today so I thought I'd introduce myself. I "discovered" Mindy's music when they played "One Moment More" at the end of the season finale of Smallville last year. I was so impressed I went out and bought her cd. I was shocked at how much of an accomplished musician she is. I've been playing her cd for my friends' ever since, and getting them all hooked. :-) Well, that's all for now!

I just found this list! I've seen Ms. Smith 2wice this year. In April, or May(?), when she opened for the fantastic Nickelcreek and this past September at Bumbershoot.
Her music is beautiful and I'm so glad she's exercising her gift.
Hello to everyone!
